In the last days I have prepared the Pearl's body for the last decorations and attachments that have to be fitted on before staining and varnishing. You can see in the below pictures how it looks like.
Here you can see some of the places where the running rigging will be fitted. In case you do not know, rigging consists on mostly two parts: the standing rigging (used mostly to keep the parts in place) and the running rigging (used for the sails and other moving parts).
More parts where also glued on the deck. Here, the front stanchions can be seen.
Also the back part of the ship received some attention. The statues that are flanking the captain's cabin are now stained and glued. I am sure that the captain will be delighted with the results.
Finally, I was able to glue the wales. I managed to find some glue special for modelling, similar with the super glue. That did the job good and fast. Here you can see the front-side view...
... and here the back-side view...
I have also started to glue some parts where the standing rigging will be. These will be glued to the body and will have the deadeyes fitted on.
You can see the 'work in progress' picture...
... and the final results in the next two pictures...
Also, you might have noticed in the pictures that the Pearl's body is little bit lighter. This is because it was sanded and cleaned a bit, as a preparation for the final staining and varnishing. This will probably be done in the weekend, there are still some decorations and fittings to be glued on the body before that.
It starts to look good. Soon, I will start to work on the masts and after that the rigging comes in. I still have to do some shopping, I need some rigging specific tools :-)
Well, this is it for tonight! See you next time with more details about the construction.
Have a nice evening!
